A team that gives so much
We had to say thank you because we couldn't do it without them
People we value and miss - a new volunteer and former staff returning to help
Like all companies we have some staff who are in a vulnerable age group or have vulnerable people to think of at home - and some of our experienced and highly rated folk have had to isolate for the safety of their family and themselves. We miss them sorely - and Colin, Peter, Julia- take care and keep in touch.
So the rest of the team has had to do more. New people like Chris have volunteered to help us. Former staff have been in touch and have offered to help out - thank you so much Mark, and Tom and Anthony and Gillian Kane for all the recent cover of reception gaps. It was great to know that your experience was there for us. And Julia is helping us from home, keeping our facebook page up to date so Rose can concentrate on teh webiste and everything else.
Families who have become friends
This weekend Julia's mum, Olive Sharp is hemming our curtains as the Chapel opens its doors to close family only services on Monday. Thank you so much Olive!
Staff taking on new roles, working weekends and long hours - and knowing they work with risk during these difficult times
And last but far from least our heroes. They have doubled up on roles to ensure that there will be cover if one of us falls ill or has to isolate. So Megan has conducted her first funeral, leading the procession and receiving a big thank you from the family. As a former teacher, she is well qualified to help Rose with services and has already taken part, proving herself capable of keeping the Celebrant side of things open as well as teh Funeral Directorrole and all the other hats we wear should she need to cover.
And it doesn't end there.... Out in full PPE to help Rose remove and then painting and decorating all weekend to help prepare our Chapel space.
A massive thank you to Stewart and Callum from our bearer team for their skill and staying power this weekend and for staying until the job was done - and to Barry and Callum, for working extra shifts to keep everything moving for us at this busy time.
Bill - thank you
For continuing to work in isolation - necessarily because of underlying health conditions. You could have sat at home - but you are embalming, looking after the fleet, doing all the accounts, being the rock on the other end of a text or phone call and ingeniously getting non-driving Rose to and from work- in the back of a luimousine with the discretion panel closed to preserve your isolation. Ingenious and so appreciated - but that is Bill. Just stay safe and away from us all physically.
Tough and worrying times - stay safe
So from Rose and Bill and Gill Kane - we raise a glass from our separate homes after another long day, to say 'stay safe, take care, know we are here for you - and we will get through this.' Slàinte Mhaith !
